Default MD license plate REDRUM

Recently in the Annapolis area I saw a car with tags REDRUM.

What would inspire someone to put that on license plates Big Jack Nicholson fan? Shelley Duval fan? Closet serial killer?

I'm somewhat surprised that the DMV let it go. Perhaps nobody there has seen the movie?

Why is it bad? it's actually pretty funny. Last thing we need is a bunch of nannys preventing harmless things like that from making it onto license plates.

just realized that it will look 'correct' (ie murder) in a rearview mirror.

if that was the intent then for a beltway traffic warrior it's actually pretty funny. i certainly want to kill few motorists each time i'm out among the commuting masses
