DVR ALERT:
Don't forget that the Monaco GP is on NBC main - not NBCSports. Pre and post race only are on NBCSports.

Then fast forwarding 20 minutes got me to the actual re-play of the race itself. I would expect when I hit record for the "Monaco Race" on NBC sports that I won't have the results shown to me when I hit play. Too much to expect I guess.

The multi-network scheduling antics are quite annoying....like NBC vs NBCSports.....or Speed vs Fox.
I wish the race had been more exciting. Passing is a such a chore now that it doesn't happen often enough. But the politics appear to be in high gear again......looks like tire testing is not going to fare well for some teams...

Really? I thought for Monaco there were lots of passes compared to other years. I cannot remember a pass working in the hairpin like Sutil pulled on Alonso.

There were a handful of fun-to-watch passes, but most seemed to have been aborted attempts, or no attempt at all. I wish there had been more action up front. And I was saddened when a pass attempt on Kimi ended up causing him a flat in the closing laps, which resulted in a position sacrificing pit stop. I was hoping Kimi would keep hounding Vettel in the points chase.

I enjoyed the race -- better than expected, and glad to see Mercedes got their act together...who cares if Pirelli needed their help with a "safety test".
You'll note that during the entire coverage the commentators kept using such hyperbolic expressions to emphasize "just how amazing" and "how unlike anything else" this race is. It's definitely on my bucket list -- the whole "event" just seems other-worldly. The racing itself, however, almost always sucks. This is a fact. If one strips away all the cool things about Monaco, the racing is always fairly boring. Anyway, I had an epiphany whilst watching this year's Monaco GP. I think that because we always expect such horrid racing at Monaco, any tiny attempt to pass is augmented in our head and seems "ultra-exciting"! Transpose that racing to any other track where the pomp-and-circumstance is not nearly as great and your response is "meh". But because "ohmygod someone actually tried to pass at Monaco", we tend to get super excited by it. If everyone went into watching the Monaco GP expecting a normal race, they'll wind up being disappointed. Those of us in the know, however, have found a much better way to watch!
