Looks to me like: 3.2 Carrera engine with the AFM moved to the back to make the profile of the engine as low as possible (a la a Type 4 VW engine). Connected to a shortened torque tube from a 944 to a transaxle sitting between the disembodied rear suspension from a 911. The engine is mounted forward of the transaxle like it would be in a 914, not behind it like a 911. The torque tube gives it just enough length that it'd be sitting right about in the middle of the cabin of a 911.

So that's the what. The big question is why?

mid motor 911 for the win. Back seats are overrated.

Looks like drover would have to sit in the back seat.

What Jazz said w/944 t-bar and tranaxel. Motor would be in front seat of almost anything except pickup or VW bus.

Couldn't be front wheel drive or the suspension would be backwards. I think the torque tube is way too short for the engine to be in front of the driver--even if above the suspension, look how little space between the wheels and the back of the engine... Strange.

Maybe it's a telescoping torque tube (there's a lip on it), and this is the "transport mode" - just pull out before installing in car
