Porsche calls this a "911", but we all know they haven't made a 911 since 1989, so we'll call this what it is - a 991.
http://jalopnik.com/5831773/2012-porsche-911-this-is-it Looks pretty good, not sure about the interior. I like the P O R S C H E lettering on the back, but the script under it is a little busy. All in all, not bad - could look a lot worse *cough*early 996*cough*. 7-speed manual? Yikes.

Tail lamps look very Aston Martiny. Not that it's a bad thing, but that was my first thought upon seeing their shape.

Whew. Those pics make the rear flares look a lot more gentle. Early pics looked like it might of had a crease that was so 'en vogue' up until recently (old vs new mustang for example). I like the smoother shape.
Only concern is that its getting even bigger. I think the 997 is more 993-ish & classic looking but if they have to stretch it to help handling then so be it I guess. Maybe engine access is actually somewhat possible though the bigger spoiler cover now?

it seems every "next" generation of 911's appears (or is) a little larger than the last. What is amazing how much on, say RL, the 997 fans are screaming that the "new" car is "too big".. guess what, put a 997 against a pre 964 and it looks massive.
Anyways. Agreed about rear badging looking a bit too busy.I have the same issue with the Panamera. Just use ONE font and ideally, just a "number" for your iconic model, no? Rear does look a bit "astonish" or even a bit "audi ish" to me, but overall it looks nice. Not sure I appreciate the spy photos of the "panamera" influenced center console design.

We run a decade or so behind. So by 2022 the dust will have settled and it will be a "classic"

I like it but really want to see it in person.
Longer wheel base....wonder where the engine will fall relative to the rear axle? Somewhere between mid & rear perhaps?

Longer, lower, wider, heavier it seems? Still looks pretty good to me, although i agree with Jazz that the inside is decidedly un-sportscar-like.
