Default Anyone know where to get 50-weight synthetic motor oil?

I've been searching for the old standby gallon jugs of Mobil 1 15-50 and they don't seem to exist anymore. And in general, auto parts stores and WalMart, etc, don't seem to carry 50-weight oil. Anyone know where to get this stuff? I just need to do an oil change on the 993.

The Sterling Advance Auto had it as of late June but I haven't checked since.

Wallmart still carries it... just not often. Best to friend-up some skirt that loves to shop and goes to Wallmart. Promise her anything if she will keep an eye out and buy it for you when it shows up

I've had great difficulty this week in finding jugs of either Mobil1 in 0w40, 5w40 or 10w40. Lots of places willing to sell quarts at $9/quart but no jugs. I've searched the Exxon-Mobil websites to no avail (looks like they don't even offer it in jugs anymore) and today asked the parts manager at Porsche of Tysons. Not only do they not offer Mobil 1 in any weights, they don't carry it at all (except in very large containers for customer cars). Parts manager said that it appeared to him Mobil 1 seemed to be getting out of the jugs business. PoT now recommends Pennzoil Platinum synthetic.

I bought the last two jugs of 10w40 Mobil 1 synthetic at WalMart of FairOaks earlier this week.

This has been very recently discussed:

I saw 15w-60 oil at Wallmart the other day. Yes it was -sixty! It was very strange though, the label was all in Spanish, front and back. Not a single English word on the entire container. All other weights on the shelf had English labels. I should've taken a photo.

Thought that was for high performance motorcycles?? or vehicles needing a wide range of viscosity

Noah,
I just arranged to purchase a few gallon jugs of 15W/50 red top from a Dorki...but he also has a few of the gold-top 15W/50 gallons that I didn't want. Let me know if you want them and I'll pick them up for you.

Peter

Thanks for the offer, Peter -- very kind of you. I found some, though, so all is good.
