80 911 .. ~ 250K KM
Car has origional motor mounts Symtoms.. indications that you need new motor mounts... P-car feels a bit more vibration these days... can't put my finger on it... If I do need new mounts >> recommendations >> I'm prettty much a street person.. not really a track car...

The stock mounts should be ok replacements if you mostly drive on the street. Very easy to do.

Chesk their condition. These should be simple to diagnose. If the rubber is cracking, especially near the metal canter or outside, or if they move alot when you put pressure on them via a floor jack lifting the engine then replace. I would also check the tranny mounts as they will go first (oil and road debris).

I just put solid motor mounts in yesterday. Haven't had time to test drive yet. Did it in the 993 last summer and liked the results. SC is already a pretty rough and loud ride.

I just put wevo mounts in yesterday. I notice the engine sits a little
higher, and I feel a bit more vibration, not less. But I feel less drivetrain slack when I am on/off the gas. Rick, what did you torque your mount bolts to? I set mine at 18 ft/lbs - as far as I can tell that is what Bentley says...

Are we talking about the same things here? Torquing motor mounts to 18 ft/lbs. sounds dangerously low, especially given the increased vibrations. I didn't use a torque wrench, but made it pretty darn snug.

I've been looking at motor mounts every since I found out this week that mine are shot (20 yrs and 140k miles). I think I'm just going to put in the Porsche OEM sport mounts - 911 375 043 07 for $40 each. These are the mounts they used on all cabs and the Carrera CS models. The regular mounts are 911 375 043 00 and are $10 more each. Don't think you need (or want) the solid ones for a street car. If you track it, thats a different story.

Rick, yeah it seems light to me - but then again I had to drill my
lug nuts off with a hole saw... Bentley's 101-16: crossmember mount to body - 18ft/lbs crossmember to crossmember mount - 58 ft/lbs I was reading the crossmember mount to body item as if it were the actual mounting torque. I now think this is the torque of the actual mount itself to the body. I am going to crank up the M12 bolt torque holding the crossmember to the crossmember mount to 58 ft/lbs. Ahhh, that feels better! I hope I can get it off without a saw if I ever need to...
