X2, go slow use some pemitraing oil as you turn nut. Slow 1/2 - 3/4 turn down, 1/4 + turn back (just like using a tap), repeat, and repeat. You've seen me do this many times

This is worse that TR's that I've seen "repaired." I have found the proper tool locally and will use later today, giving me time to order studs if it doesn't work, but like the posts above, I believe this will be easily fixed with a little patience and the correct tool.

FIXED! Getting the car and tool in the same place was 100X as hard as (1) spraying oil on the stud, (2) running the tool up the stud (3) testing a lug nut went on smoothly, and (4) cleaning out the tool with Brakleen.

Actually, today is a "DrFirst" day, and I ate lunch during a meeting, then did 2 1-hour conference calls while completing my "errand" so I'm actually working EXTRA today! Put my phone on mute so they wouldn't hear the grunting and cursing...
