I'm thinking about having a set of straight-through pipes installed on my 996. I've looked at Fabspeed's but $500+ is a bit much for me (though they are stainless). I was thinking of having a set made with my exisiting sport tips installed. Anyone know of a decent shop that could do this inexpensively? It would make the 996 growl a little more and free up 60lbs or so on the rear.
Thanks!

I can't recommend a shop but I would love to hear your 996 after the job is done. And this whole time I thought I was a hardcore 996 owner, you're putting me to shame on this one Chronos.

Tim,
Naah, I'm sure I've got a long way to go to catch up to you! I can't believe it would cost more than $150 or so to pull the stock exhaust (simple unbolt job) then add two straight pipes w/ a mandrel 90 degree bend and add either my tips or some decent round or oval tips. BTW just put on a set of 225/40 and 285/30-18 Bridgestone S-02. Great stick inthe dry but man are they NOISY! Almost sounds like a bad bearing, but I know it isn't. I may go back to Yokos next time.

Chronos,
Why did you go with S0s rather than S02as? TD

Honestly, got a GREAT price. I understand the S-02s (N-spec) are better in the dry but worse in the wet, plus are a bit noisier (understatement). Guess I got what I paid for! I loved the Yokos in 225/40 and 295/30 but had a hard time finding a set. Since this is my daily driver and I burn through rear tires I thought I'd try to save a few bucks this time...

Let me know what you think! I loved the personality (if that is possible on a set of tires) of the Yokos; nice, predictable break-away at the limit.
