I think the risk of De'ers screwing up bad enough to hit a wall hard is less than the risk while racing, but the impact is probably the same.
The difference is that in racing, point-by's are not required.....or expected.

Of course, but when you crash, the impact is not any less, hence safety requirements between racing and DEs should not be any different, don't you think so?

The impact, should one occur, could be similar. But the chance of this event occurring should theoretically be less at the DE. Unlike a race, the DE is not a competition; it's a controlled learning environment.

I agree with George. I also think if Potomac PCA wants to lower their safety incidents statistics they should implement a no tailgate rule at least in the lower classes.

If someone is tailgating you, that means you haven't given them the pass signal soon enough.

Yes, those low-class ne'er-do-wells shouldn't be afforded the luxury of tailgating. Tailgating is an activity that should be reserved for sophisticates and well-to-do gentlemen. Barons of industry, and the like.

Can we see some stats on all the tailgate related incidents? I can't think of a single impact at a DE that was caused by tailgating. Most are due to car control issues or vision issues if I had to guess.

Dare I say that in the lower classes, this responsibility should probably vest with the instructor sitting in the RH seat......
