Often discussed but never clear which way to go. I'd like to cover Lu's car for DE, and ideally for agreed value for normal driving. Currently I have Hagerty collector car insurance and they only want you to drive in parades and to car shows. I'm not sure if they'd cover the E if we were in an accident while driving it to the gas station!
State Farm? Others? Any agents provide a written statement saying DE was covered? Thanks for you're help. |

I dunno about the insurance, but there was always a parade behind me last week (until we hit the straights that is and even the ground hog passed me).

Hehehe, Marc...the instructor must've been giving you all the wrong instructions! Your right foot heavy on the right-most pedal makes all the traffic disappear in your mirrors. I know real well from following you to Rockville Porsche for tech last year. I think it was right after you put the "big iron" in the back of your S.
Now come on guys, don't be shy. Fess up. Who covers our p-cars on the street and for DE? I need to know before Watkins Glen. Those ARMCOs look awful scarey. |

My 993 is insured by Smith & Wesson.

I am using USAA and I am covered. USAA is not covering DE in some states, Fla is one example. I checked with USAA... If the policy does not exclude De you are covered. For me that comes out to $220 a year, comprehensive and liability, street and track. The down side is you need to be or have been in the service or a child of a service member to join.
Richard, You better get some insurance too. You can't shoot all the lawyers... they breed too fast. (Present company of barristers excluded of course) |

Thanks Kurt. It's a shame that Lu and I are not eligible for USAA, they sound like a good outfit to insure with.

Jim, weren't you in the U.S. Navy? That should make you eligible for USAA. I have them for my house and cars and they are excellent.
But USAA is still no match for my Smith & Wesson policy (guards home and cars and was a one-time $500 cost). I decided on an extra policy from SIG Sauer and even carry supplemental insurance with Federal HydraShocks. My deductible is an Ithaca 12 gauge sawed-off.

Rick, yesy, I was a long, long time ago. I think they only cover active or retired Military & dependants. I'm not very hopeful; however, I'll give them a call.
Anyone else care to provide some input? There's got to be some other ins. carriers that are willing to cover DE, right? |

State Farm gets rave reviews from the Rennlist crowd.

Jim, I also have USAA and DE appears to be covered. I don't know if "willing to cover" is the right phrase. More "not explicitly excluded". My policy explicitly excludes participation or preparation for competition events.
Rick, I'm afraid that firepower won't dissuade that tire wall you see rapidly approaching in your rear-view mirror!
