I picked this book up at the library yesterday and could not put it down. I should be done with it tonight. He's a little harsh on Targa owners
http://www.themotorbookstore.com/gol...d-porsche.html From the book: (I took to explaining that I was simply spending two years and $70,000 to make a brand-new 1983 Porsche that would never in my lifetime be worth more than twenty grand, tops. It was like the MasterCard commercials: "Car, $10,500. Parts, $59,900. Experience, priceless.")

few years ago there was an anniversary edition of 'road & track' or 'car and driver' or whatever outfit he used to work for back in the day. as one of the past editors, the magazine contains his account of the experience, as well as his coworkers'. they didn't have too many nice things to say about each other. then again, this was late 70's/early 80's car magazine era. headquartered in nyc. guess fun wasn't his scene.
still a good writer, but it's interesting to get a different perspective on things. seems his crotchety personality hasn't changed all that much |
