IIRC, some MD & VA politicos, not long ago, were actually considering legislation to outlaw them.....

From what I recall (and there appears to be references via Google) a number of state legislatures were trying to outlaw them within their state. I guess punishable for cars registered in the state, and maybe warning for out-of-towners. I don't anything ever passed..yet.

Since I already had to explain them to my then-10 year old daughter, I no longer care if they outlaw them. But that was a conversation I wish I didn't have to have!
