Anyone looked at the new bhpbrakes.com pads? Claim to be street and track worthy and have sizes to fit most if not all P-cars. I'd be interested in pads that don't shriek on the street. And are less expensive than Pagids, stop as well, and don't eat rotors.

Not familar with these pads, but Pete's dersix pads have been very good to me. They've held up very well on the track and only make slight noise when cold on the street.

my car came w/ Ferodos and they are completely silent on the streets and hold up in every DE that I've entered. (have to check what compound, though)

Ferodo pads kick butt!! I have tracked the targa (stock M calipers) multiple times with no wear on the pads. Silent on the street and grab like crazy cold and hot. Cheap too! I don't know how they would last for a 90 min session but last Sept in 102F deg heat (Air temp - don't know track temp) I had not fade or other issues the entire weekend.
They are a Favorite!

Bob,
With so many really well proven pads out there, don't know if it is worth experimenting with unknowns. Every so often a new pad will get a burst of maketing support and turn out to be a dud. EBC pads are a case in point - there are pics posted of these pads literally melting in DE applications. Pete Tremper's Kool Karbon pads are superb [der six - ads in Pano]. PF97s have a strong following. Both are relatively low dust and noise. Pure race pads like Hawk Blue, Pagid Orange have far higher torque and temp figures, but that comes with some downdide. They need to be hot to work effectively, and will be both dusty and noisy. Its a tradeoff.

I switched from street pads to Hawk Blues last year... all I can say is WOW!!! I never knew how damn good stock Porshce brakes can be!
The Blues do squeak a bit when cold, but the real problem I have with them is the iron dust they throw off... don't know if it is from the pads or my rotors. Please let me know if anyone finds the perfect street/DE bad with no noise, low dust, easy on rotors, high torque cold and hot, don't fail under high heat, minimize heat transfer to pistions/calipers, and guaranteed to keep me on line and at the limit in every turn.

After Hawk Blue, its going to be a step back. They are great pads. They have a metallic content in the compound, which is what causes the nasty dust. Its a small price to pay for their terrific intial bite and durability. The Kool Karbons from Der Six [pano ads] are a great dual use pad. Others have had good results with Performance Friction and Ferodo. I've used Ferodo pads on the rear of the 951, but have no experience with them on the 911. The Hawks are nice

John B - are you running the Hawk Blues on the street, or changing back to a street pad between DEs? If you're running them on the street, how are they? Noisy as hell, or OK? Do they eat up rotors?
I need to get a new set of pads for the upcoming season, and am torn between Hawk Blues and the Kool Karbons that Mr. Kelly speaks so highly of. Both are the same price, but it sounds like the stopping power of the Hawks is better on the track. That said, most of my miles still come on the street, so I need good street pads. Which I think means going with Hawks and changing back to street pads between events (3 events a year, so no biggie) or try the "dual use" pads like Kool Karbons. Decisions, decisions...

Chris, what run group are you in? If you are " below" mid white, go with a performance street pad like Hawkes Black.If you are high white you might want to go with Blues. They will chew up your rotors,can be noisy on the street, don't work to well in street trafic until they have warmed up. Most people I know who use them have the intent of swapping for track but usually end up leaving them on all the time. For 3/4 events a year go with a street performance pad or even stock street, use ATE Blue or Gold, bleed before every event and take a spare set with you and you will be fine.
