MEK will soften it up then you can pick it up with a rag. Can be found in the paint department of your favorite Home Depot or Lowes. Note, do not plan to have unprotected sex for one week after use otherwise your children may have an extra head or two.

I have an almost full gallon of that MEK after Old Tee talked me into it!
Anyone want waht's left?

It turns the glue into BOOGERS :P .

I mostly used the 3M glue cleaner. I think it's made for prep, but it does a good job on wheather strip adhesive. One area that I think you do want to clean before you install new rubber.

My experience, too, Bill! Door seals stick a whole lot better when you remove the old glue (and rubber remnants) and then apply the new glue. It's not fun to remove the old stuff.

How's the MEK on paint?

Use carefully around paint. It won't distrub most enamels but lacquer and anything plastic are a real risk. MEK is used as a catalyst in epoxy to make fiberglass into Corvettes. Acetone is also a good cleaner when used carefully. It will remove things from paint that you never thought were there! Bill, keep the gallon of MEK home. I have it's companion in my garage!!
