Default Green Distributor Wire

Any of you guys done the splice in pigtail for the green wire on the distributor. Mine was cracking and while I'm pulling stuff apart, I figure what's another $31.25 I wanted to however inspect a sucess story.

If you have and you're going to Kurt's this w/e lemme know and I'll make sure I see you there. If not we can work something else out.

Thanks
Steve

Make sure you get the correct part. Do a search on a post I made a few months back on this. The part Pelican sells is a short ~6" piece that didnt fit my car. Honestly it was useless unless your issue in in the last 6 inches. The issue is with the connector going to the distributor, if that's not a problem it looks like you could just splice in any wire, save some $$. The other option is a complete new harness, but that's $$.

Vertex told me there was a 928 part # that fit, Pelican said they were FOS and the p/n Vertex quoted me didnt exist.

Chris,
Thanks for the reminded of your troubles. You never remember those threads until you have lived the problem. I'm lucky I remember "green wire distributor" to use as a search term on PP

Mine is a sort of olive drab now and since I'm taking so much apart, why not address one other issue?

The question is, as I understand this, this wire goes through the loom to the 6 pin cdi box. Could I get the 928 part and bypass the loom altogether? I'm running MSD now...

I think iI have the short wire if that's the one you need. It didn't work on my harness. I have the long one in the car which goes all the way back to the CDI box. Permatune. BTW if you do go with the long wire permatune has the pin outs which are the same as the stock plug on the harness. Since yours is MSD look up their site. When you open up the wire you will find the inside trigger wire and the outside sheild.

In taking off the distributor, the plug turned to dust. I have seen posts on Pelican about splicing in, so that's what I plan to do. I was going to get the long one (944/928 part) and run directly to MSD (around the 6 pin plug). But I decided that it was best to stick with the 6 pin.
