Been looking around the hotel sites and Craigslist. I can get an apartment in Paris for about the same $$ as a hotel room.
Anyone tried the Apartment route? Any opinions??

The main thing you need to decide is if you want american comforts, meaning AC and probaly a private bath, I spend about 15 weeks a year in the EU and try to stay at local hotels as they are cheaper and the food is better, there are several chains such as NH, Park, Ring hotels that are family owned type places. But if this is your once in a life time/honymoon type trip, dont pinch pennies as you will regret it if something goes wrong, and things do go wrong.
If you really want an apartment, try here: http://www.rentalsfrance.com/ had a good expereince with them for the countryside.

For your honeymoon, the Plaza Athenee or the Ritz. Of course, you might have to sell your car...
I stayed in an apartment in Paris with my family, at 40bis Avenue de Suffren. I was 13, and it was a great experience for a family. It was less expensive and much more immersive so I learned more French. But for a honeymoon, it's not what I would recommend. I hear there are some lovely little hotels on the Ile Saint-Louis. Rooms are small, but great location and less expensive. Peter

If you are on your own I recommend you pick up a nice tart and stay at her place ;^)
Spend the money on soap and buy a razor so she can shave, or buy extra champagne and overlook that aspect.

I like staying in the 5th or 6th district. Lots of nice "boutique" hotels around there.

I try and avoid Paris and usually stay near the airport and use the train. But when I have had to be in the city I usually use a Sheraton and prefer the Hotel Prince de Galles - Paris Champs Elysees, but then again it isnt my money
Good luck and have fun.

Oooh - I've got your answer. Stay at Chateau d'Esclimont. Easy trip from there to Giverny or Versailles (or Paris). It really looks like the photo! http://www.slh.com/france/st_symphor...au/stsdes.html
