I'm pretty sure they had a busted fastener they could not remove, and 'Grip welded a piece of metal to it and was able to get it out. They were quite grateful, as they had a DE the following day!

I have FioS and think the service is excellent...

When I went to cancel Comcast they tried to do everything they could to sell me on keeping their service... I finally cut the person short and said "You don't understand, next to the day my divorce from my X-wife was finalized, calling you to cancel my service is the happiest day of my life." Well, that left the person speechless and I have been a happy Fios customer ever since...

I didn't realize how much time it was going to cost me to switch my email over from Cox to Verizon. I didn't have Cox shut off till about a week after FiOS was installed, and within hours of Cox shutting off, so did the Cox email accounts. I had to log on to all the important web sites (banks (Pay Pal too), insurance, car lists, you name it) and make the address change.

Then, about half-way through that process, I got the even brighter idea that I should have switched everything over to a gmail address to avoid ever having to switch everything again but I was already too far into it to stop.

My understanding is that it will take Verizon 10 years to run the "last mile" to all the homes in the their covered area, and they are more likely to do the easier areas first.

The shovel brigade laid the fibre from the pole to the house yesterday, so we are all set for service install. The scheduled date is 1 April, which makes me a little nervous.

Need Speed channel on HD. C'mon Verizon, show us some luuuve.

So I manually went through and set up the entire broadcast schedule for the Sebring race. I've been in Baltimore all day and trusted that the DVR would record what I scheduled.

Silly me. It didn't and so I missed the beginning of the race. Not the start but THE ENTIRE BROADCAST. WHY WHY WHY WHY. I SCHEDULED IT MANUALLY. The DVR wouldn't schedule everything because it thinks each broadcast is a repeat (can't blame speed, TIVO never did that) so I went through and set up each recording. So I missed the entire set up, team run down, who's who, what cars are new, all of it.

You guys are going to have to start writing checks to anyone that got your DVR or swap them with dual channel TIVO's. I've really had about enough of these quirks. It's a job and a stress I just don't need.

That pisses me off when that happens.
Mine worked just fine after I went and called for each one to be recorded. I wonder what happened in your case. I have noted that FiOS is often confused on what is a repeat and what is part of a season pass. I have to call for each F1. I was some kind of pissed last year when i expected to see watch a race off the DVR and it was not there. That is the ONLY way I watch races any more so i can zip past the endless prattle and commercials. Season pass seems to only call for the race that is next. My old TEVO does not do this annoying little problem. Someone at FiOS needs to key in the information better. FiOS also gets shows all mixed up. The info will say one thing and the show will be a different episode than indicated.

My wife records a lot of PBS stuff like Mystery but FIOS only ever gets part 2 for some reason. It never records part 1.

I checked and checked the race schedule and it just shit the bed. I have no trust at all for the season pass feature. I can set up a season pass and find 3 new episodes but only one shows up in the schedule. It's junk.

Also, TIVO can be sent to my PC and I can put shows on my IPOD. FIOS has no option.
