Arrow [Sunday, June 24th 8-9:00 Meet] Scenic Maryland Civil War Trail & Covered Bridge Tour

[Sun, June 24th 8-9:00 meet; 9:15am Departure]

Chesapeake PCA - Scenic Maryland Covered Bridge Tour

The last 2 Fun Runs have been building for this: THE BIG ONE!!!

When: Sunday, June 24th. We will meet between 8:00 – 9:00am for a prompt 9:15am departure time.

Where: We will gather in the parking lot of the Pizza Hut in Mt. Airy, MD. There are several gas stations and places to get coffee and breakfast also… Directions below:

Bring: A full tank of gas, an appetite, money for food ($20 should more than cover the meal), and a FRS or GMRS handheld radio (tuned to channel 7, subchannel 21) if you own one! It’s not a necessity to own a radio but it makes it easier for us to keep in contact. Gina and I picked up our radios at Costco for $75.00 which included 3 radios, charger base and earbuds…

RSVP: Please RSVP to bull_30@verizon.net or you can respond this thread. Let me know how many will be attending…

Event Fee: FREE and open to all PCA members.

Route: This route will take us through 2 little known tunnels, 3 covered bridges, following the Civil War Trail through very historic areas of Maryland and down the Catoctin Watershed. The scenery on this tour is breathtaking and the roads are very twisty. Three breaks are planned along route arriving 1:30pm at the VERY scenic PB Dye Golf Club for lunch… The restaurant is excellent and the prices extremely reasonable. There will be some tremendous photo opportunities on this run so bring the cameras and/or video equipment… For those that attended the May 20th Civil War Tour... A few of the roads are the same but many are different with many more scenic and twisty roads added...

Questions?PM me or you can Email me at: bull_30@verizon.net... Everyone will get detailed directions the day of the event…

Directions to Pizza Hut in Mt. Airy:

From RT 70 Baltimore Area:
Get off RT 70 at Exit 68 which is RT 27 Mt. Airy exit… At the light at the end of the exit ramp continue straight across RT 27 and you will see the Pizza Hut on the RIGHT… We are meeting in the parking lot…

From the DC Area:
Take RT 270 North to Exit 16 Father Hurley Blvd... On the exit ramp bear right and follow signs toward Damascus... Once you cross RT 355 Father Hurley Blvd. becomes RT 27... Stay on RT 27 thru Damascus and continue to the first light past RT 70... Turn LEFT at the light and you will see the Pizza Hut on the RIGHT... We are meeting in the parking lot...

From other areas: Use your GPS or favorite online mapping program and head to address:

Dang Bull....sound like fun, but looks like I'll have to miss another one. You've scheduled on top of one our autocrosses again. Oh well.....

I hope everyone has a good and safe time!

I may run this one again this year, more than likely in the fall as a fall foliage tour... It's a fantastic tour with absolutely incredible roads and scenery, not to mention all the history along the route... I'm running it on Sunday, June 3rd for the MINI Club... There are already 34 MINIs signed up... I'm hoping to hit 45 MINIs...

Sorry about the overlap but there are very few Sundays available in June... I'll see what I can do for the July tour... Tours have to run on Sunday since there's less morning traffic...

If everyone makes it through this one, I may do the HUGE fun run which has 6 covered bridges and follows the Gettysburg Civil War Trail... That's a 6-7 hour tour... We'll see how everyone handles the challenge of this 4.5 hour tour...

I'm there too. When do you expect the tour to end? I need to be back in NoVA by 4pm.
