Default What are the actual costs for DE?

Just need a general ballpark, not costs to do upgrades. Fees and wearables and so on for one weekend. Or maybe you don't want to know.....

For a 2 day DE

- $250-400 entry fee (non-instructor) depending on club

Other consumables are pretty cheap: (again over 2 days)
- $100 RA-1 ($700/set, good for 14 days give or take)
- $60 brake pads (can vary a lot. Pagid Yellows $500/set, good for 12-14 days)
- $100 gas (almost a tank a day, my car gives me 8 mpg, and uses 1/4 tank per session on average...)

You also have to add cost of accommodation. $60-200 hotel, half that if sharing. The low end is if you stay in Winchester for Sat night only during a Summit Point weekend. The high end is if you stay 2 nights at the VIR lodge.

There are also additional maintenance costs. Oil changes and brake fluid are pretty cheap, plus the occasionally torn CV boots.

So $500/weekend is pretty standard. Ouch.

Do you guy's carry track insurance as well? BTW Scott $85. a day for beer is lowballin it...but there is the side benefit of passing out in your fold up chair at the track and not having a hotel bill.

Yes. Track insurance for my boxster costs approx $40/day.

So $600/weekend is more like it.

Gas $20
street and track ins $240 a year.
tires $40 each 2X times a year mounting free. $320
Pads 3 years per set. not worth the math.
Room split with someone. $50 a night.
2L bottle of 2nd shelf vodka $18. mixer cheap.
add the entrance fee and you are done.

Oh, almost forgot, add one $80,000.00 or so shop....

Do not add up the costs. Ever. For any reason. Above all if you are nuts enough to do so Do Not Tell Your Wife. Do not tell anyone else's of let your wife do so as this is grounds for disbarment, dismemberment and parting your car out.

Never, ever do the numbers.

I scrolled right past everyone else's responses, for I don't really want to know.
