Default T.A.G. Motor Werks

The other day I noticed for 1st time a shop called T.A.G. Motor Werks, on Woodfield Rd. in Gaithersburg, MD. Has anyone had any experience with them? I'm curious since they're close to home. Thanks!

Tony - I use T.A.G. Motor Werks exclusively for all work on my cars - Beemer and Porsche and do not hesitate to recommend them highly. I think they do great work - stop by and say hi to Ham (owner) and Kevin and check out the shop. Ham just got a 9" x 40" 5-axis mill, and has a lathe and other stuff. He can probably build about anything you need.

Even duct tape can't fix stupid... but it can muffle the sound!

Thanks Bob! I'll have to check them out. I'm using the body shop in the same building (Shannon's Autobody) to repair some minor damage to my 944S2, caused by a shop lifting it incorrectly. I noticed TAG when I dropped off the car. I'm always interested in finding decent quality shops close to home.

I have never heard anything bad about them other than they are so carefull with motor work as to be a bit slow. Ham is a true mechanic and does carefull well though out work from what his followers have told me.

Can't testify to the quality of work, but he's quite pricey. I was quoted $700 to rebuild my carbs, and knowing parts only constituted $100, was quickly convinced DIY has it's charms. Dave O was also given a big dollar quote to change his engine oil cooler, which prompted him to take on the task on his own.

Was this before or after you set your car on fire

Before. Bringing in a set of crispy Webbers to a repair shop was above my threshold of humiliation.

Tony,

The guys at TAG are very conscious and quite particular about thier work. Ham has been there in that location for at least 10yrs. Wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend him!

I grew up in Damascus in the 80's, T.A.G. has been there since then.
