The oil temp and gauges is high. Like uncomfortable high. When I touch the lines going to the external thermostat they are hot. Thermostat feels warm. Oil lines from the external thermostat to the front cooler are both cool to the touch. As in not warm at all. Can a thermostat just stop working from sitting too long? I didn’t mess with the thermostat at all but I did not plug the lines to the thermo while the engine was out and being rebuilt.
Once it fired I let it run at 2k rpm for 20 mins and shut it down. It smoked a little but and then after 20 mins when I let off it settled at a pretty steady 1k idles Then took the man child around the block and my wife around the block (2 different trips). I had a small leak from a valve cover gasket, but all else seems fine. It’s parked now but it running too hot has me worried. Thanks
