Default Alternator Replacement '85 911

Alternator replaced in 2-1/2 hours today. Bought rebuilt unit from Arlington Armature in Springfield for $250. Was quoted $1100+ for replacement by repair shop in Old Town. $850 saved in 2-1/2 hours is pretty good in my book.

The good was that everything went fairly smooth. I had replaced the unit 3 years ago so had a pretty good idea of what I was in for.

The bad - fan shroud is cracked and I got some nice 2nd degree burns loosening the alternator ground while the engine was still, ah, warm.

Got it all back together before dark. Started, ran, and puts out 13-1/2+ volts. Will check it again tomorrow after I drive into work.

Thanks everybody for your assistance.

First shot is halfway through. Second is my burn. Third shot is right at the start.
