I’d like to hear the whole story.
Not much of a story. I constantly crawl the web looking at cars ads.
I'm sure many of you do the same. The 'net is a great place to window
shop for cars. I found the "T" advertised at www.carquip.com, a Porsche
repair shop in Denver. Back then I was looking for an early 911. I mused
over the ad a few days, then contacted the seller. That began a weeks
long email and phone conversation, culminating in a PPI and agreement
to purchase the car, long before I actually drove it. The rest is history.

Almost the same with the 930. I wasn't "looking" for a specific race car,
rather looking at all race cars. I did have a preference for a "wide a$$ed
turbo" race car, but that was totally subjective.

This particular car had been for sale on Rennlist since early this year. He
was asking $40,000, way too rich for me, so I moved on! Window shopping
requires no commitment - that's why it's fun. A few weeks ago
it shows up on eBay without a reserve. I start a email conversation with
the seller, get a couple of references from happy Porschephiles familar
with the shop and do a little research. Talk with the fellow that built the
car and drove it in the SCCA, winning a couple championships along the
way.

So, I post my high bid and wait. I win the auction at $27,100. A fully prepared,
winning, GT1R race car. What's not to like?

Test drive on the toll road? Eh? Never happened. I did test drive it around
Knoxville, briefly. Just a tad self conscious ...

I drove to Knoxville after the enduro last Sunday. Picked it up Monday and
returned home. End of story...

Actually, just the beginning, I suspect ...

BYW - BYOI? Insurance?
