I will not be able to make DE events this year but I want to learn more about getting started.
I have an 83SC Euro Cab. (Probably not the best for track, but it's what I have.) I know there are several different classes, but I don't know the specifics of each. My engine block is a 930/16 82US I believe it has the 9.3:1 pistons. I have Euro CIS and SSI's with single out exhaust. How do they determine what class this car would be in? So far the car is pretty much stock. I don't know the wheel widths but the rear tires are 225/50/16 and the front are 205/55/16 (Fukes) Would larger wheels push the car up into a higher group? What about brake system modifications? I plan on painting the car this spring and am beginning to collect some parts. I need a left front fender or extensive work on the bucket and the rear bottom edge which have rust. I won't know about the right Until I take it off. so far it looks pretty good. I have a line on a pair of front turbo fenders and rear fender extensions. Can anyone tell me what other parts I will need to widen the car? Front and rear side bumper valances? (Are these different for turbo?) Obviously I will need wider tires to make it look right and maybe fit larger calipers. Can I move my rear wheels to the front and just buy rear wheels same size or larger? Can I do this without widening? How do thes modifications raise my placement in the groups? I think DE requires a Roll bar, but I'm not sure what type. Do they make a removable rool bar just for track events. Is there one that will still allow my kids to sit in the back. I drive the car daily so some of the work I do will also just be done to extend the life of the car and make it better for the street. Lastly, this needs to be a budget project so cahanging everything over to lightweight is not really an option. BTW the turbo fenders are avalible because the guy that has them replaced his with lightweight stuff. So one man's junk is possibly my treasure. The timing on this is now because I'm going to paint the car. It only makes sence to do these things at the same time. I imagine the race rules get pretty technical is there a way to get a copy of them as well as the DE requirements. In advance can anyone give me som guidance? Thanks! Anyone got some heavy steel body parts they want to get rid of cheap?
