How about the new GT40?

This same guy did a segment where he trashed a 911. I don't think he's a fan.

I can't find that clip anymore....it was kinda' funny though.

Charlie:

I have that GT 40 clip, pretty good. I have to admit... I am closet Ford muscle car junkie.

Many years ago I learned to turn wrenches and do bodywork on a '68 Mustang GT500 (428 CI side oiler, dual 750 Holly quads and Hurst, 4:10s) that my father and his cousin were restoring. Actually got to drive the car in the summers of my 16th, 17th, and 18th year on this planet.

I love P-cars but.... lighting (sp) them up in 3 out of 4 gears is one hell of a rush...

That GT-40 is a helluva car. I didn't know Ford was planning to call it simply the Ford GT until I saw the video? Hmmmm.... That car must be a hoot to drive around the track - can you imagine? I love the old-school styling of the thing - time warp-ish.

Hmm...two GT-40's or a Carrera GT lemee think???

My, one man's, opinion is that the essence is being diluted, rather than disappearing. Porsche is producing some great hardware for the die-hards, along with some ho-hum stuff intended to appeal to the masses.

If we simply look at the enthusiast side of the equation, we find Porsche is more productive than ever before offering such greats as the Carrera 4S, Turbo, GT3, GT2, GT3RS, Carrera GT and (dare I say) even the Boxster S. Has Porsche ever offered as many enthusiast models to the market at the same time before? I think not!

While I am very worried about dilution of the image, I am even more worried that commecial success with incredibly average models, such as the upcoming Cayenne V6, will encourage Porsche to focus scarce engineering and design resources on even more mass-market models. Yuk!

If they come out with a 2900 pound Boxster Coupe with a 315 hp 996 engine with a track-ready oil sump/pump, all for $45k, I'll forgive all past and (most) future marketing sins!!!!

It's nice to dream. 8)
