I've been missing my cat for years; I did notice a not-insignificant increase in torque as well. That said, I have a turbo.

Really? That's a thing? I guess I didn't realize that was a stipulation for historic tags.

Antique tag limitations vary from state to state. Virginia has some pretty stringent requirements (although it's rare to hear of someone getting caught like Lupin was).

I work for one of the local police dept's here in the Richmond area. Lets just say stopping someone for excessive driving with antique/historic tags would be a "low code" offense and not really worth the effort.

The key provision in the VA Code that protects you when driving a vehicle with antique registration and tags is:

•Testing its operation, obtaining repairs or maintenance, selling the vehicle or trailer, transportation to and from events as described in number 1 above and for the occasional pleasure driving not to exceed 250 miles from your residence.

If someone stops you, just say I am checking the operation of ________(fill in the blank) because it's been acting funny lately.
