Ah, insurance. I had recently put upgrading it on my to-do list. Up in Vermont, you don't need to worry about hit-and-run accidents. I had a very nice liability policy with plenty of money set aside for uninsured motorists and even vandalism -- but I'm not covered for a hit-and-run. This is coming straight out of my bank account.

Double-tapping is the best advice I've heard so far. Two in the chest, one in the head. And just think, my M4 is sitting up in Vermont with several boxes of ammo and a couple of 30-rd mags laying around, with nothing to do...hmmm...

Noah. I talked to the Mgr of the HBL body shop, gave him the story including the no insurance part and he is going to hook you up...
We have the Cellett frame and body system that can pull the body back to spec without tearing the car apart.

Call me at 571 233 3421 and we can set up the details. If you get it fixed here I can post update pix as the work moves along.

I feel you pain. I had a silver 1978 Honda civic that I bought new when I was 18. In the summer of 1980 it was parked in front of my folk’s house and a drunk ran into it and drove it up and over the curb. All 4 wheels were pointing in different directions, doors sprung, wrinkles in the roof, just it was a wadded up mess. My father jumped up and ran outside to see what the noise was. He saw my car all mashed up and heard a grinding sound down the street that was the guy trying to drive off. My father chased the sucker down, caught him and also just barely kept me from beating the drunken S**T to death when I got to him.

His insurance co gave an est. of $1400. I argued that it was a total and they said not a total unless it was over $3500. It took 2 months to fix and it ended up at $3800 for a car that was $5000 new. The car was never the same after but I bet yours will be.

Two in the chest and one in the head is a triple tap. You gonna do that might as well empty the mag and reload. Better to put one in the knee and watch him bleed for a while

What Kurt said - get him in the knee and let him feel it. I'd aim a blow torch up his nose too and then go after his family. Lemme know if you want to borrow a shovel. I have a big bag of lime in the garage too.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and generous offers. I'm all set with transportation -- I have an old Audi Quattro that I use as a daily driver. Eli, thank you for your incredibly generous offer -- this group is truly unique and selfless. 8)

I got the car back to my place this morning -- it was quite an adventure, with the right rear wheel flopping around in the breeze.

The car definately is going to have to go on a Celette. The right rear engine mount is pushed forward a tiny bit (the rear engine mount crossbrace is ever so slightly kinked on the right side), and the passenger's door gap is closed up about 1/8".

I'm going to take the two damaged rims up to Ye Olde Wheel Shop in Glen Burnie to be straightened, and I have a bunch of parts to source. I'd like to take the opportunity to improve the car in the course of repairing it, but there's really no justification. If I went to coilovers, I'd have to buy a new trailing arm and spring plate anyway. So I guess the best I can do is just return the car to stock...

I will have a spare SC bumper and trim soon. Also have a set of SC motor mounts. If you feel like doing a G50 conversion, I have a spare set of those spring plates too.
