Min at Pitstop bought Autothority's inventory. He may have also purchased the rights to the name "Autothority". Joel, the former owner ran the business into the groud. He started catering to the ricer crowd and it went down hill from there. I have only had bad experiences with the shop. I'm sure others have had good experiences with them. That said, I don't think they're still in business. At least not under the same ownership. I have heard goodn things about Pitstop.

Interesting. The number on the website still works, and apparently they've moved to Alexandria.

When I called, they sounded like they still do tuning for Porsches, but I guess they're unlikely to admit to not being very good at in any more.

Mroberts, They are quite good at it now that Autothority is no more. Pitstop has taken over Autothority, which mostly meant their dyno and other equipment, one or two employees, and not much else. I was just there today getting my car back from Minh at Pitstop. He put a German high-flow cat on for me so that I can get thru Calif Smogging.

He says Autothority's value, to the extent there was any, was in its national reputation from advertising in the mags. But their local reputation was shot, so it hasn't meant a lot of new business.

Calls to Autothority's old number are now transferred to Pitstop. in Alexandria. Autothority's old location in Fairfax is empty. Talk to Jeff or Minh if you want some work done. He's just keeping the Autothority name alive for calls from old clients and responses to their national ads. He's still doing business as Pitstop Performance Tuning. And yes, P-cars are his primary line. He had two twin turbos there today and was putting a PPT turbo into a guy's Boxster for a sleeper track car. Plus lots of others.

It's a shame they are out of business. I remember the good old days when Al Collins opened the shop. He trained and mentored a lot of good techs in his day. Quite a few went off to do their own thing after Joel bought the business. After that, I never did quite feel welcomed there.
