there's an HF store near my home so I go in almost every weekend. I picked up a air die grinder that was on clearance for $9 and it ended up less than $8 at check out. Came with some grinding stones too. Of course it's made in China but it's already lasted more than one day

I went in today with a couple coupons to get a multimeter = $2 down from $9 and a spark plug tester $2. Spotted an air chisel for $9 and it was only $5 at checkout! I then picked up a wire brush for my angle grinder and was out of there for under $16! I don't have extremely high expectations for the items but I don't anticipate opening an auto shop with them either.

I have one across the county but it's still further than I want to go in the middle of a project. I usually stock up on stuff that I think I will need...some of it has been in the package for a long time. Then again, I bought impact sockets because they were on sale for $8 and put them into service that evening... I was doing some 44 suspension work and hadn't planned on taking off these big bolts.....Hmmm, now I have impact sockets.
