Default Industrial Shelving Locally

I am trying to get some shelving for my garage and basement. My brother kindly hands me this Global Industrial catalog and I found something I like. I was going to order like 4 sets, but the shipping comes to ~$250. Anyone know where I can get this stuff locally?

Here's a link to what I have found.

I picked up a very similar setting up Costco for ~$60. Might be worth a look.

Check the shelving at Costco. They have the chrome wire FDA aproved type. $75 for a 4 foot wide 18 inch deep 6 foot tall set with 6 shelves and casters if you want to have them roll. Rated to 600lb per shelf.

Costco also sells the type you are looking at. I don't know the price.

I picked up the exact same shelving at Home Depot/Lowes in the past.

Check it out and these shelving units are great.

Default I've bought from these guys...

I've bought from these guys... www.buyrack.com. Great prices and free shipping if your order is over $500.

Only downside is that for residential deliveries they only promise to get it as far as the end of your driveway. In my case the truck driver was kind enough to help me schlep all the parts to the garage.

They have a nice strong 5 shelf unit, see: http://www.buyrack.com/black_z_beam_shelving.asp for only $55 to $80 a unit depending on width/depth of each shelf -- price includes the particle board.

John,
Are the shelves solid/welded in the corners? Costco had something similar to what I found but the corners weren't welded and it was rickety as all get out. Of course I went to Lowe's dropped $400 on other things and completely forgot to look at what they had.

I'll stick up for the Costco stuff again. I think the guys that put together the displays arent quite as detail oriented as we are. I have tons of stuff on my $60 shelf and it's solid as a rock. In the past they have been very easy to deal with with returns as well.

I agree with Skip, I've bought the same from Home Depot. They call it 'Gorilla Shelving' or something like that.

VaSteve,

I can't comment on the buyrack.com shelves I linked to... they are a new design not available when I bought 4 years ago. Given their pricing and free shipping it's worth a call to ask about construction. One thing you can see in their pictures is that each shelf corner has 2 "slide-locks" (maybe even 4... picture is a bit too dark to tell for sure) -- which should result in a very rigid unit once assembled.
