Default DE Openings

Those of you who did not get to Potomac's opening DE last weekend, or who just want some more track time (albeit in warmer weather), you may be interested in joining Schattenbaum Region at Summit Point on April 9th and 10th (Friday-Saturday). At the present time all run groups are open and only 60 cars are registered. This means lots of track time in a low key DE event.

Schattenbaum was my old Region and I know they appreciate having PCA members from other Regions drive in their events. So if you want some more track time, or just want to get out for your first DE of the season, please visit their web site at:

http://www.schattenbaum.org/

All the forms you need are on their web site, and the HPDC is not a requirement for new drivers.

Regards, Bruce

Bruce - I just got my confirmation e-mail today

With only 60 cars registered I assume they'll be combining run groups like last year? If that's the case then I need to make plans for new tires, brakes and gas cans b/c last year we had 5 runs per day at 25 minutes each and I believe there were more then 60 cars then.

You gonna be there for the event? If so we'll have to catch up.

After -watching- everyone have fun this weekend, I'm itching to get out to the track. If only I hadn't agreed to go to NY on Easter weekend. Arrgh.

Thanks for your support guys and I am sure your PCA buddies up in snowy New Jersey appreciate it also.

Depending on how many cars they end up with, Schattenbaum may run only three run groups...Red/Black, White/Yellow and Green/Blue. You get so much track time, you need to replace your tires after the first day.

I am going to try and make it Doug. I want to see your "new" SC! Missed Potomac's opening SP event due to the flu.

Regards, Bruce

Nightmares? Just you wait, Counselor. Officially, I'm still in Green.

Does anybody have a clear explanation of what skills you must have to be in each group?

I've never run with PCA before, but have probably 20 DE days under my belt, mostly at Summit Point. In both the Audi club and NASA, I've been signed off in their red run group (highest group below instructor). My guess is that I'll need to take an instructor for at least one session for -placement-.

Thoughts?

Not sure what Schattenbaum will do, but Potomac will have you evaluated before assigning a run group. You probably will have to start in green, and be evaluated during your first DE.

Also, Potomac does not honor, for the most part, sign offs by other regions or clubs.

Send an e-mail to Bob Novas and ask his advice.
