Yep, that's what I said. Time to get the winter's work underway. I'll take care of the preliminaries Friday. All are welcome.

10am Saturday February 21st

Need anything? Oil wrenches, floor jack, jack stands etc.

Well, that's a good question. I haven't made a tally of the tools required. Surely, another floor jack. I have a couple large adjustable wrenches for oil lines.

I'm in. I've got two pallets, I can bring them both to see which works best.

Ted, we're going to try something different. I've order a 911 Engine/Transmission Jack Adapter from Pelican. Of course, I don't believe the "one person" claim. That's why I'm inviting everyone over!

With this Engine/Transmission Removal Jack Adapter one person can quickly and safely remove or install the engine and transmission assembly in a Porsche 911. If you ever tried to remove a 911 engine balanced on some boards on top of a floor jack, while trying to keep it all from falling off onto the floor, you had to say to yourself there must be a better way. Well we did too! The top of the adapter cradles the sump plate as well as the large rectangular boss at the rear of the motor, keeping the motor from shifting side to side, or front to back. This plate pivots on the base, and by means of a adjustment bolt, the engine and transmission can be tilted to line everything back up during installation. The base has a 1-3/16" diameter pin which sets in place of the cup on most floor jacks 2-1/4 ton and larger. The bottom of the tray is lined in rubber to protect the soft engine case. This tool works on all 911 and 930 engines with the removable sump plate, or up to 1984 when Porsche did away with the sump plate.

Ahhhh, so it sounds like you made the decision to dive in Greg. Don't worry, you won't regret it

Not sure if we'll be around this weekend yet but if we are I'll try to swing by. I've always wondered how that tool works so it would be interesting to see it in action. What's the address so I can mapquest it?

Chris - those have to be some of the scariest pictures in the history of an engine drop. Glad everyone made it out of Ted's garage that day in one piece.

You think the pictures are scary?!? Shoulda been there

My address is 1124 Marion Ave, McLean. Don't believe everything you see on MapQuest. I'm just off Rt. 123 east of downtown McLean. Look for the church on the south side. Marion is just across the street. The truck is long gone and the 911 is in the garage.

Chris,
Those block actually had nothing to do with the engine drop. We were just trying to see how far we could shoot one of those 4 by 4's out from under the 911. Ask Eric and Jason how far they went Friday night.
