Default Thursday Update

Pulled the 911 out of the garage yesterday and it cut out and wouldn't start. Let it sit 5 minutes, fired right up. Before the first start, I installed all new fuel tank, soft lines, cleaned hard lines. Original fuel pump was frozen, but after much cleaning, got it working but it wouldn't build enough pressure to get fuel to the engine. Converted to Pierburg with a 3.5 lb regulator. (original fuel pump is now nearly $1000.00, so maybe in the future). I did not update the coil, which I am suspecting is getting warm, then dying, cooling, and working. New coil, points, cap, wires, plugs on the way. Update will follow
Also, the Alternator light was on and the tach doesn't do much. Alternator light went out yesterday after some more electrical cleaning.

Disconnect the battery. One by one take each fuse out, clean the contacts and install a new fuse. Next best is to reinstall the same fuse after cleaning the ends and scrutinizing it. Best is to replace with copper fuses rather than the aluminum ones.

Crusty Crappy Porsche fuses have caused many hours of troubleshooting. I do this on every one of the oldies that come in my shop.

Superb advice. I did the 3 in the engine compartment as part of the preliminary work, but didnt even consider the “stack” in the front

Default early 70's 911T's

I've owned several early 70's 911T's and even one E. Used to buy and sell them in the 2005 to 2008 timeframe, the EURO got up to 1.7 to the dollar and the Europeans were filling shipping containers with them to Rotterdam.

Great cars, best of the original 911's. In 1970 I was 16 and in high school, Northlake Porsche-Audi just opened in the suburb of Atlanta where I lived, I was in love with the Porsches in the showroom, a T was over $7k, huge money at the time, and the mechanics let me watch them and ask questions. Great times.
