Default My 944 Hybrid Project

I picked up a side Project, a 87 944.

The car has some dings, nicks and scratches. The engine is running, but has a few oil leaks, and the water pump is leaking water.

Already hammered out a dent behind the rear wheel.

The interior is worn beyond cleaning and TLC.

Need to find some front seats. The carpet has seen better days. I decided to start on the inside first.

So I just went ahead and got rid of the carpet. Cleaned out the interior.

I had a set of black carpet floating around, which I used.

What a difference it makes.

The rear seats look good after I gave them a good scrubbing.

While I had the rear side panels out, I checked the speakers and found them dead.

I replaced the old Blaupunkt speakers with a set of Polk Audio I still had.

To be continued.

Cheers
Engelbert

Started a bit disassembly

Back on the lift.

Exhaust partial removed, Drive shafts removed. Next: The transmission.

Transmission is out.

That engine was leaking oil for a long time.

Engine is coming out.

Dropping it from the bottom.

There it is out.

There was a lot of oil from leaks combined with dirt.

ECU harness is out, that will be modified for the Hybrid conversion

This car was a mess, especially at the right side.

Getting it all cleaned up.

To be continued.

Cheers
Engelbert

Hybrid, huh? So inquiring minds want to know, "What is going back in?"

How about a Lexus 400h engine - at 260 HP a significant HP upgrade from the original 944...

can the original engine be modified to run with addition of a battery?...or does the entire engine/tranny/battery need to be used from an existing hybrid?
