Hi! Hello! Welcome!

We are friendly here, so a first post from someone who has not introduced themselves, or said please and thank you with their question, makes us sad pandas.

Thanks everyone. I've had my 1982 911 SC Targa for 6 years without an issue. Also an owner of a 2006 Cayman but the former is my true driving machine.

For those of you who are more in the know, I have another question/best guess for you. What is a range of cost one should expect for an engine rebuild? I consciously know I'm going to do the work, but the rational side of me is trying to compare the cost plus my basis with buying a new 1981-1983 Targa. I'm assuming in a 8.5 of 10 condition or better the car is worth about $35K.

realistically $15k-$20k if the shop does everything.

I'm told by my mechanic the transaxle needs replacement. Though I love the car, I profess I'm a novice as it relates to mechanics. Thanks for your wisdom.
