Default Kawasaki ZX9R For Sale (Stafford, VA)

The bike is green (Kawasaki racing color) and a dark purple.

*there is a sub gallery in here at the end of the pictures with pictures of all the scuffs on the bike

Motorcycle History:

I purchased the motorcycle in the beginning of May of 2002 with ~ 4,800 Miles from a young man in Warrenton, VA (JMU / Wintergreen area).

At the time of purchase there was an abrasion on left fairing (by the left handle bar). This abrasion is still there. I did not notice the abrasion at the time of purchase so I didn't inqure about the cause of the abrasion. My assumption is that it was either knocked over or dropped at a slow speed.

After the purchase I took the bike directly to Jarman's in Charlottesville and had a new Dunlop 207 put on the rear and had the Safety inspection done.

Approximately 3 months after buying the bike a young women hit my parked and covered motorcycle in front my house while I was at work. The young woman who knocked it over payed the complete bill for all the repairs including all cosmetics that were affected by the accident. I also had the bike completely worked over at this point and checked for any possible engine or other damage. The oil casing had to be replaced so they were actually in the engine during the repairs (done at MFI by Potomac mills). I was a little bit worried about riding the bike and wanted utmost reassurance that it was in immaculate running condition since I spent most of the time with my girlfriend on the back. The knock over caused a punture in the oil casing on the right side. So it was un-ridable until repaired. MFI did a complete look over of the engine etc and declared it in excellent condition and replaced the right side fairings and the casing in question, changed the oil and looked over the rest of the mechanics of the bike. I believe you cold call them to talk to them about this they should remember the bike it took them almost 2 months to get all the pieces in.

My girlfriend then two days after I got it back knocked it over again on the same side, but this cause no damage to anything, except a bit of aggravation on my part. There is a small scuff on the new casing and on one of the fairings.

I have sawed the screw that caused the initial puncture of the oil casing down so if does not protrude out of its rubber housing. This remedies what I think is a major design flaw in the current ZX9R motorcycles. Be wary of this screw if you have to replace it. I dremeled off approximately 1/4 inch to make the screw sit correctly. With out this fix if the screw protudes out past the rubber housing and is position right over the oil casing and will puncture it if dropped on the left side.

I had the front tire replaced in August I think (at MFI). The bike was again checked over mechanically and passed with flying colors. The front tire currently has about 350 miles on it. The new front tire is a dunlop 208.

The rear has has 8100-4800 for about 3,300 miles. Most of the wear on the back is on the middle I am not a super aggressive cornering person or a speed demon.

The front tire is just broken in and safe for general riding (out of the slippery new stage).

The tail section has a metal fender elimination kit on it.

The pipes and everything else on the bike are stock with the exception of the slip on D+D carbon fiber exhaust. The bike is pretty loud with a deeper type of noise. I prefer this since I wear an Arai helmet that block smost of the noise, because it allows people to hear me better than on a quiet bike.

The bike itself is very fast. I easily will pull up in 1st gear if you aren’t careful. (I am not a wheelie guy so I try to avoid this). It also comes up in second when gunned etc and can come up in third I have heard (never done) under the right conditions.

It weights ~409 lbs somewhere in the 135-140 hp range. I haven’t dyno-ed it so I am guessing from the stock figure. The slipon supposedly adds a hp or two.

I lubed the chain two months ago. Tried to clean the bike itself about a month ago for the inexperience guy that came to look at it. I needs another washing at some point to get it immaculate.

Next riding season it will need an oil change, to have the brake fluids checked and have the pads looked at.

The bike comes with a rear wheel lock. It is currently garaged at a friends house between Stafford, Va and Fredericksburg, Va.

I am selling the Motorcycle to pay for my Fiancee's wedding ring. As part of my agreement with her. I already purchased and financed the ring. However I would like to sell the motorcycle and pay the least amount of financing possible on the engagement ring.

Other Things I have that I could sell with the bike:
So if you are interested in any of we can haggle something out. (None of these items are currently being sold with the bike).

Arai Quantum F Edwards Replica (Size Large)

Never scratched dropped mared etc… This is a fairly expensive helmet so I don’t think I want to throw it in with the bike unless I get a decent price for the bike and I am not sure if it will fit the prospective buyer anyway. It is red and black and white so it doesn’t match the bike, but I like the design and cared little about color coordination with the bike. The helmet retails for ~ $500 dollars and I have a smoke visor for it to accompany the clear one.

Wow. That reminds me (although there is no comparison) of my long since gone 650 SECA Turbo. Very hot for its day, first full faring production bike as I recall.

Good luck selling her, if I even thought about buying a bike, my marriage would be over faster than you can get the wheel of that thing off the ground.

I know what you mean Mark. Sometimes these "hobbies" have to come to an end.

Well anyway. Mostly this is just a piggy back on you guy's porsche board. Maybe an abuse, but I needed somewhere to put the pictures and the history for inquires I get about it...

So that you all for putting up with my non-porsche. Once it sells I will remove this thread and the Gallery items.

Geoffrey:

Anything that goes fast and corners like it has claws is fair game on this board. Especially if it belongs to the creator of this board

Marc

Geoff,

I might be interested in the helmet. It matches my bike...

Shoot me an email at td_va@hotmail.com if you still have it.

Thanks,
