In a race Hoosiers are great, or if you have Ryan money to throw away, OK, but for the rest of us just doing DE's for fun, 40 heat cycle tires are fine. I don't care about the time difference anyway since I'm just in it for the grins.

Dr. K:

I wouldn't worry so much about tires, setup, etc... for your 1st/2nd race weekend.

Your weekend should be as uncomplicated as you can make it so you and "Garth" can focus on:

1. fun
2. seat time
3. experience
4. staying out of the way(but staying on your line to be predictable for everyone else)
5. checking your mirrors (see #4 above)
6. putting the car back on the trailer (take it home) the same way it came off
7. fun.

There is plenty there to keep you busy. If the car is safe ... focus on the rest.

Have a great time!

Very wise words. They are good until the flag drops and the devil competitive juice starts flowing and all he thinks about is how to stay ahead of the stock 914 on his tail and the fact that he doesn't have the best tires or what he forgot to do in prep.

Here's the compromise on which I settled: I'll do the sprints on my RA-1s (unless it rains), and the practice and enduro race on a set of 4-6 HC Hoosiers I purchased. Thanks to (will insert name with permission) for selling he the HoHos, and thanks to TR for loaning me a set of wheels!
