Default Mainshaft Seal

Does anyone out there know the procedure for removing and replacing the mainshaft seal on a 901 transmission?

(http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/Par...earings_big.htm) part # 6

Thanks,
~Eric

I would be glad to help, my experiance (good and bad) lies with 915s and G50s. I think we could handle it.

Let me know.

Marc~
Sorry I didn't get back to you before (see the post about how I spent my weekend). If you would be willing to help me get this seal out that would be great, where and when would be good for you?

Thanks,
~Eric

Marc and I have done this one together a few times - not fun. If the procdure is any different on 901's, Kurt Mickelwait is an expert in that area. He has rebuilt a few 901's. If yours is like my G50, I think we ended up drilling a hole in the seal and then threading a screw in there to give us something to grip onto. Then it was a lot of muscle work and cursing to get it out.

I would deny the expert part but I can help with the main seal replacement.
The second time you do one it is a 20 min job.

Email me after you pull the 901 and have the seal. We can set up a date and time and if you bring the 901 over I will be glad to pop one in.

Funny thing, Haven't been hitting this fine site often and this is the first thread I looked at and my name was in it. (without cuss word adjectives as well)

Hey Kurt, you should see how often my name pops up as the butt of a flame. I go away for a few days, check this board and find I've missed an entire thread about my car's woes.
