Default Joining the club - almost on the road again !

Two big milestones in the last 24 hours.

Re-installed the engine last night, without attaching anything to it pending successful test of the new fuel plumbing.

Just finished said testing and it's good to go! Fuel's flowing thru the system.

Next: exchangers, muffler, oil lines, oil, axles, etc. Then start it up!

Stay tuned.

Great stuff Greg. Another Dorki project car awakes from surgery!

This little science project will be fun to drive.
So, your choice will really be hard now:

- The Green MFI Machine?
- The Beast?

Which will it be for SP????????

Damn good question. I still have front rotors and pads to put on the Beast and both cars need their brake fluid flushed. I'm running out of time ...

Nice choice to have for a track event

My vote: focus on the beast as there are probably a few of us who have yet to see her in action.

Host a “catch-up day”! We all come over, get in others way but still get both rides ready for the track. Don’t know much about no stinking MFI, bur bet I can do brakes!

Let's see now.....the current going rate for a brake flush is.......

- one solo session in the MFI T
- one solo lap in the Beast
- one right seat session in the Beast

Damn shame Greg can't carry passengers. Guess that means I need to do the duty as a current instructor with recently logged Beast time.

More of a shame given that Kurt will need to drive either car to ensure full tech compliance.

I find myself overwhelmed by the selfless generosity of this board's membership. Sniff.

Anyway, she's all together. Time to twist the key ....

The key was twisted, the engine turned-and-turned but nothing happened.
I had a pair of fuel hoses switched. Ambiguous Porsche documentation.

Switched them, twisted the key and moments later she's running for the
first time in 4 months. Yeah!

But, the first turn of the engine caused the belt between the camshaft and
injection pump to skip a tooth. Thus, the delivery timing is off. Now I
wonder if it can be realigned without dropping the engine.

Awesome work, Greg! Just need a picture of of your sh!teating mug

BTW: I'm assuming there is no tensioner between cam-drive and pump. Does the pump have enongated holes to somewhat tension the belt to help prevent this again?
