Since I am now the proud of owner of an '83 SC, I need to start collecting all the tools, parts and books that I gave away to the guy who bought my old Carrera. I can't wait for Hershey to buy the bulk oil filters, so please tell me the best online or local source for buying a batch of 5-10. There's a guy on eBay who sells them in batches, but with shipping, it still works out to about $7 a piece. Anyone know how to get the Island911 valve adj. tool? Any former SC owners out there with a Bentley manual and/or the parts manual with the blue 911 on the cover? I used to have all this stuff and need to track it down again. Thanks.

Welcome to the SCWDP brotherhood Richard......MUHAHAHAHA
You are welcome to use my Bentley manual whenever you want. I also have the parts manual with the blue cover. Let me know when you are going to do the turbo tie rods, I would like to help out. I will send you a link of where I get parts from my SC when I get home. |

Thanks guys. Pari, I need to have those manuals in my garage. I'll find them, perhaps from some SCWDP guy who's betrayed the brotherhood and gone to the 993 dark side. I want turbo tie rods badly, but will wait until I redo entire suspension, so as to only need one alignment. Susp. is first major job for this car. Needs shocks, spring plate bushings, a-arm refresh, maybe bigger t-bars and turbo tie rods. I'll deal with it later, but hopefully before first '05 DE. Anyone have any experience with the Weltmeister short shift kit?

Congratulations on the new purchase. For shifters, the RennShift is also an option for 901 or 915 owners: http://www.rennshift.com/mainpage_temp.htm Although it looks like an new and improved version is on the horizion. Jim Richards has one installed with his 915 if you are looking for feedback.

Another 83 SC welcome!
I have and am getting a new set of parts programs on CD. Get on the list to get a copy. Have tools when you need them. Have fun!

Richard:
I have the Weltmiester short shift kit with the replacement shifter in the car now. Throw is the shortest of all kits. Force to shift is noticably greater. You are welcome to try it, kit is very clean and gives you a chance to replace the ball cup and the shift rod bushing.
