Default Guess what arrived at my house today...

I just got an email from my wife that two large boxes from CustomInk.com arrived today. This may be the first $1000 Porsche related purchase delivered to my house that won't result in lots of appologizing and me sleeping on the couch for a few nights .

The good news is that I confirmed today that we have no plans for Saturday night, so I will be at the PCA meeting tomorrow ready to hand out the shirts. The bad news is that I'll have to drive the "pure sports car", as my 911 is still in 1000 peices.

Hope to see a lot of you guys there.

BTW, here's what a "911 in 1000 peices" looks like, for those not stupid enough to take theirs apart.

Good God Chris . . WTH are you doing . . . . and why is the engine still in the car.

Not going to make the meeting so I'll have to make other arrangments to pick up the dorki-band. Thanks again for all of your efforts.

What? You don't recognize a "I need new tires but now the new tires are wider than the old ones so I need to roll the fenders and if I'm going to do that I should lower it too and if I lower it I'll need to get an alignment so as long as I'm going to pay for an alignment I should refresh the whole suspension and while I'm waiting on parts I think I'll replace that cracked dash -oops broke the windshield better get a new one of those - and as long as the windshield is out time to replace the torn, brown headliner and of course I can't have brown carpet with a black headliner so I should replace that too - hey - is that rust in the fender - better pull those off and see how much damage there really is, especially after seeing how bad Bill's car was rusted" project when you see one?

Did you find any serious rust?
I have all of mine cut out and new metal welded in place.
Did you decide to paint? Find a painter? I'm still looking if pari's frend doesn't want to do it.
FYI acetone turns out to be the best at removing the rubber glue that holds in the seal. Unlike $$$ 3M glue remover it's cheap and it drys out the glue instead of turning it into a bunch of boogers.

Old Tee gave me a parts washer which I got set up today. It works great!
I don't think I can make it tomarrow night, but I'll get in touch about the shirts. Thanks for all the work in getting them done!

Nope - nothing serious. Bits of surface rust under the hood seal, some surface rust here and there where the oil lines and the washer fliud pipe hug the body and trap dirt & moisture. Speaking of trapping dirt - man! I think I took 10lbs off my car just in loosing all the dirt that was trapped! The worst is the shelf under the left headlight bucket - this is where Bill's car rusted through. Mine has no rust, but not for lack of trying. The entire shelf was packed full of dirt - I had to get a paint scraped and dig it all out. With all the dirt to hold water after driving through the rain, its a wonder more cars aren't rusted out up there. I'm glad I pulled the fenders and got all that crap out.

I've decided to not paint for now. I think I'm going to wait until I've built up my body shop skills and do it myself. This, of course, could take years .

Look who's talking . I've got 100 t-shirts here with a disassembled 911 on the back of them and I'm pretty sure that's not my car in the picture...

Ha! OK, I don't know how to respond to that, Chris. So, I'll just keep laughing. I don't think I'll be able to make the meeting tonight as I have our Civic under the knife right now. I'll try to arrange a pickup soon.
