In the process of freeing up and making the parking brake work properly I ran into a little problem. I need a part which is a tube that the parking brake cable goes through that resides at the brake backing plate. In fact, I need two. I can make them but would rather have Porsche parts. The dealer quoted 19.99 each plust 25 for early next week shipping. Not acceptable. I will come get them anywhere in the metro area. Can you help! The IMG button requries I have a web page somewhere in the either, which I don't and do not want to fool with. Thanks[/img]

Gimme a part number. My roommate works at the dealership. I can probably get them delivered to my kitchen table.
Or call Dave Ocell at Dulles Int'l. Motorsport. Those guys can get anything and fast.

He actually works for Audi of Alexandria, but they're owned by the same folks who own Porsche of Arlington. Believe me, even at his discount, lots of parts suppliers still have better prices. I can't abuse this connection too much, but then 993 parts are a little easier to get from a dealer than the older stuff. Really, it's not all that great a perk, except that I get the stuff delivered to my kitchen table and deduct the cost out of the rent he owes me. Tie rods and rear toe arms made me pay his rent for a month and a half - even with his discount. Ouch!

Here is a picture I took the other night when I was "in there" redoing my parking brakes:
![]() You can clearly see the $20 tube you mentioned above. In my case, the "star adjuster was frozen with rust. I cleaned it up and drowned it in anti-seize. Jase |

Hi John, how's the brake stuff coming? What other projects are you planning on doing for the MD inspection? Check our mutual friend

Jase007, That's the one. In my case it is frozen solid. One side has the correct part the other side has fabricated steel pipe (ie) jury rig. I'm kinda funny about parts. Given a choice I will always go with a manufacturers correct part over designing and fabricating one myself. Porsche is a better engineer and manufacturer than I am. Dave Ocell is running them down for me tomorrow. I hope he will be sucessful and if not I will be talking with Parni's friend. Again. As for projects, once the back brakes are put to bed I will start on the front. Then drive it a while, then pull the gas tank and do the welding under the battery box, then finish removing the air pump, then Inspection. Lots of projects on this puppy, but I love it.
