Not the car, but instead it's me. I just had my left shoulder "scoped" and I'm looking forward to having improved motion and no more pain. Even driving during the Spring HPDC aggravated the shoulder somewhat.
So, it'll be a week or so before I finish working on Dino. Tasks remaining are (1) receive and install the SSIs, (2) fix a small oil leak, (3) do an alignment and (4) check / set ignition timing & dwell. I'm hoping we'll have a fun run in August to test out my handiwork. See y'all around... |

Glad you are getting your strength back...all the better to guide "Dino" through turns 1-2 at SP You mentioned setting timing and dwell, etc... on Dino, I highly recommend getting the Pertronix Ignitor to eliminate your points on the distributor. I have in my '62 356 and my '76 Targa and it saves a ton of time. Reliable in street and race conditions and relatively cheap. There are other manufacturers but, I have been pleased with Pertronix. And...never have to change points / condensor again. Jason |

Customer support is excellant, and they know the various wiring schemes that differed from Dino to Dino.

I can certainly sympathize with your shoulder problems. I've got spurs in both. Too much motocross in my youth. The one on the right didn't bother me until last fall. Now I'm not playing baseball for the first summer in 45 years. More time for the targa though. I'll be following your recovery. I've been reluctant to get scoped because I know a couple of guys who didn't get much help from it. One of them got worse. Hope you fare better. You may want to give some thought to going to a wider diameter wheel. I noticed when I put the smaller wheel on mine that it strains the shoulders much more than the stock wheel, even though it's just a couple of inches smaller, if that. [/i]

I went through the shoulder surgery ordeal to reattach a ripped muscle and open up the joint. It was good as new within a few months. It was difficult shifting and driving with one arm for awhile...especially at the toll booths in Reston. Rick '78 930 |

Rick, I'm glad to hear that the results from your surgery were so positive. I'm probably going to have to let Lu drive me around for a few days...until the stitches are out.
Dan, I had spurs removed, and a little extra bone trimmed off to allow more room for the joint to move. I hope my recovery is fast and easy. So far it's not too bad. I'm wearing a sling but I can eat, write, type, etc. The surgery was on my left shoulder and...you guessed it, I'm a lefty! At least it won't impact my shifting arm. 8) |
