Default Anyone have any insight on these...

Still looking at cars for a new DD. I like the 5 series, but it isn't much bigger than the 3 series. So I am branching out. On the list is:

Dodge Charger RT
04+ Acura TL
Cadillac CTS
Nissan Maxima/Infiniti G35
Honda Accord

I drove and rode in the police package Dodge last week. Viewing out the rear passenger side window is weird due to the roofline, but it had a lot of space in the back seat. I got to do some quick takeoffs in both the V6 and V8 versions, but didn't spend a lot of time in either. I like the looks of the Caddy but I wonder if it is to old manish, and rear space looks limited.

Thanks guys

If it's the Charger and Honda, then not much!

Short list...

Four doors
Safety
Powerful
Roomy/comfortable (no cramped up rear passengers)
Good trunk space
Cheap parts
Larger than a BMW 3 Series
Ok MPG--mid 20's on the interstate would be good
Auto
Leather

I'd prefer not to pay for premium gas, but its not a deal breaker. For instance I know the TL takes premium but its still on the list. The budget is around $15K. So looking at used. And the lower miles the better. I should also ad that my commute is going to be about 15 miles total a day. And it is pretty much pull out of the driveway go to work, no traffic. That's what makes it ok to get ok gas mileage.

Thanks

Since you didn't list "not boring" and the ability to "add any throttle before it is completely straight without understeering into the next county", the Maxima will work. I had one for several years and only had those two complaints.

I know a couple of folks with Acura TL's, and they seem very happy with them. Good mix of reliability, utility and performance.

I get the impression that the latest model CTS (new as of 08 I think) is light years better than the original. Don't think you'll find one in your price range, although you never know.

You can get a used CPO BMW X-3 for about $15K, too.
