Suggested Brake Pad for DD
My wife's DD needs new brake pads. 137,000miles and this is only her second set. Looking for recommendation for good pads for light driving! Stopped by Autozone, Duralast pads are only $65 for f/b for the basic pad, but don't know if Textar or the like would be a better choice. Shop wanted $500! She has a Volvo S80.

I switched to Hawk street pads on my BMW back in the day and they worked just like OEM but less brake dust.

Have used Hawk HPS pads on a number of vehicles (Boxster, 944, 944S2, Audi Allroad and Ford Focus), and I've found them to be ideal for street driving. Work very well and virtually no noise & dust. Decent pads for autox, too. And for beginner DE driving.

For a Volvo I would only recommend the OE pad. In my experience all others will be noisy. You may not care about a little squeal but I bet your wife would.

I went with the Autozone pads for a family member's 240 wagon. They work great, inexpensive, and have a lifetime warranty - when they wear out, you get new ones for free. No squeal, and no noticeable increase in dust.

Did some searches and can't find what the OEM pads are. Considering the Dealership wants $550 to change the pads and fluid, i'm guessing the pads will be pricey from them if they can even be purchased that way. The squeal factor is definately a concern. My life will not be happy if her car is squealing!
