Default Received a Speeding Ticket today...in the mail!

Looks like the DC area has a means of handing out speeding tickets...or should I say mailing them. Just received a ticket for 55 in a 40 on route 50 (heading east). The ticket was sent to me by mail and was a picture of me speading, obviously taken from a moving vehicle.

Dang...DC sure is high tech for keeping us honest

Hope no one interprets that as an opener for legal advice

Believe it or not, beyond a reasonable doubt works in traffic court (you know, the Constitution and all), and no, I don't practice in DC because I wouldn't want to.

There's a notorious photo radar trap on New York Ave/Rt 50, just before the speedlimit increases to 50/55 mph. Its apparently a huge money maker and has recently come under scrutiny. Look for info online in washpost.com or wtopnews.com.

Also, if you get a ticke in DC, I have a name at home for a lawyer who does a LOT of work handling DC (only) traffic tickets. Send me a PM if you want his name/#.

The photo radar tickets can't really be fought these days.. No points associated with them. So you just contribute to the "Annual Police Fund" against your will. If you take it to court, they just tell you to get the money from the "friend" you loaned the car to.

QUICK! Report it stolen (and you can "hide" it at my house). Leave the key

do you really want to swear out an affidavit under penalty of perjury saying it was not you driving???

cuz the next question is, ok, then, tell us who was driving your porsche that day.

what are you going to say?

oh my buddy tyrone was driving it
tyrone who sir?
i don't know his last name
where's he live sir?
i don't know where he lives

yeah, very convincing story

All you have to dio is "not guilty". They have the burden of proving it was you, atleast in MD. Bad checks is one of the very few odd-balls where it is infered that you intend to defraud. Bounce a check and go to jail?!
