It would be his daily driver and he's got 15k in his budget. He is leaning towards an RX8. Anyone know anything about these ? I would push him towards a Boxster if it wasn't for the repair bills. I would rather see him get a Miata before the RX8 but he doesn't like the looks as much. He also tends to think the poon factor is higher in an RX8 which is really important to a 23 year old.

Has he driven one? I understand they push like pigs and have no torque. A very good driver, Bob King, has one and uses it at the track. He is dog slow in it. He commented that it pushes way more than he expected or would like.
This may all be good in reality for a 23 YO trying to snatch some snatch though. On the other hand, Wankels are not known for their longevity.

Is gas mileage an issue? I only know one person who has owned an RX-8, and they sold it after a year due to the poor mileage (in the teens around town, I think).
On a side note, chicks won't be impressed by a Mazda...

I understand that gas mileage really sucks for such a small car and engine. I don't see them on the track very much either which tells me something. However Miata's are all over the place at the track. ( I am so track biased )

What's the repair bills on an older M3 or a 3 series for that matter ?
I always assumed they were P car like.

If someone wants to attract/impress/entertain a lot of women with a car, nothing beats a BMW (M cars). Fun to drive and have a very cool factor regardless of how old they are. I've had E36 M3, E46 M3 and S52 M coupe and they are all awesome. Ownership cost varies depending on how you uses them. With $15k, you can pick up really nice E36 M3. I paid mine $11k two years ago but it has a lot of miles on it. They are also holding the value much better than japanese cars. Scott, I could never have guessed you have a son that is 23 years old. You look wayy too young in person.
