Is anyone using 6 point harness? I need to replace the harness in my car and am thinking about going to 6 point Schroth Profi II on the driver side. I have a Kirkey seat in the car and wonder whether the sub-belts of the 6 point harness go through the single sub-belt hole on the seat.
Any one motivated to add a picture would be much appreciated. As they say, a picture is ..., especially to someone like me who does not know what he is doing. TIA |

They do. That's what I used in my car. Kurt M. and I had to adjust the hole in the seat a little, but it works . . .

I've got an Evo L and worked just fine.

Picking up where TD left off....
It still works fine, even with a different Kirkey seat installed now. Some people find the system a bit cumbersome to use, but I actually like it. The subbelts use loops over the lapbelt tabs which plug into the camlock.

I just installed them in my car before VIR. I'm using them with a Sparco Pro 2000 and they work fine. I can post a pic when I get home.
I got the Hybrid II, which has the subs that loop through the lap belts like Tony says. This can be a bit of a PITA until you get used to it, but on the plus side you don't have a tab assembly from the sub belts hanging down and digging into your nuts, either. Most of the Profil IIs have a buckle tab on the subs, which would be a bit easier to buckle up.

Thanks guys.
Looking at the picture of Profii or Hybrid, it also looks like the hardware is made for eyebolts. Why would the shoulder belt require hardware anyway? Shouldn't they be wrapped around the harness bar? I am using the stock belt locations for my lap belts. Are you guys using eyebolt to attache the lap belt? How far apart do the sub belts have to be mounted? My current 5 point sub belt goes through the frame support under the floor board. Do I need to strengthen the sub floor to attach the 6 point sub belts? I guess I also need picture from under the car as well?

Nader, I'm finishing up installing 6-pt harnesses in my 944. Per Sparco's instructions the sub-belts should be anchored about 4" apart from each other and far enough back so that they are behind the sub-hole in the seat. On 944's you can't anchor them too far back (unless you go way back) because there is a hollowed out double walled section of floor directly beneath your butt. I just drilled through the floor, dropped in the supplied eye bolt, and threaded it into the 2"x3" metal plates with a welded nut on them. The plates do not come with the belts but OG has them for $4 each.
For the outer lap belt I threaded the eye bolt into the stock seat belt anchor point. For the inner lap belt I drilled through the center tunnel and installed an eye bolt with a reinforcement plate.

I bought the 6 pt. Proffi II and last night we put in the sub and lap belts. I have a Kirky seat that has large openings for all belts to go through. However, the sub-belt looks tight going through the sub-belt hole. I see no other way for the belt to fit. Is this normal?
6 pt. may be more comfortable and safet, but I now remember why I used 5 pt in the past. I also put a 5 new 5 pt on the passenger side, so I am good through 2013. |
