1) Can you get the DVR software fixed? (or at least roll it back to the last version - about a year ago)
2) Can you get the people who answer tech support to actually have a connection to someone w/ a clue? I've stopped reporting problems since no one seems to know how to elevate them.

I love the internet part of fios (going on 3? years now.) No complaints about the phone either. If I didn't have trees blocking my view of the new directv HD birds I'd go back to that in a minute.

Iccy,

You seem like a well intentioned, decent sort so please excuse some of the sentiment and language of the thread in the link below. I was pretty peeved at the time.

It's a good link to some very well explained issues with the DVR. Things like the menu, search and for some reason the capacity of my 120 hour DVR is now 40 hours after the new menu system was implemented.

I've had Fios Internet for over a year and love it. I've had the TV since October, and my only real complaint is that my DVR arbitrarily reboots itself once or twice a week. Usually right in the middle of prime-time while it is recording two shows. I haven't contacted tech support about it because I am lazy. Have you heard of others doing this? Is there a fix that you're aware of? Also, more HD channels would be nice. Is there any kind of schedule for those being added?

Hmm...do you have info on future coverage areas? I live in the outskirts of Richmond, VA and would love to have this service.

I also have FIOS and think it WAS great, there just seems to be wizz bang changes to things like the menu that frustrate me enough to want my old dish back, I also hate the reboots that shut everything down as well as the long pause when you go from HD back to a regular channel. But in the end it is better then cable, the internet access is great, and the price is good, I also like the DVR when I can get it to work correctly.

Now if Speed was in HD that would make me forget all the other things!!

can you get them to remove the box from the pole in front of my house? It's ugly as hell where it sits. They could put it 100 yards further up the street where it wouldn't bother anybody.

btw, i have the fios and it's a pleasure to use.

I have had Verizon Fios for a little over a year now. Big fans... especially the 30Mbit downloads. Would really love to have the Home Media utility allow the Fios DVR box to play not only the music and photos shared from my pc but also some of the home movies stored as avi's. That is really all that I want!

Would let me get rid of 4 other ethernet connected boxes that I have at each tv doing just that...playing networked avi files from my pc.

BTW: my fios router died over the weekend... I figured that I would be able to use my backed up config file and apply it to the new router that just arrived...no dice. That is gonna be a whole lot of re-config for FW, QoS and port forwarding that I am not looking forward to re-doing by hand.

The other part of this that was a bit of a pain is that our Internet and thus my IP phone was down for the weekend since our Fios router is provisioned via moca not ethernet.. I only have about 3-4 other routers that I could have plugged right in as an emergency. but instead had to wait until a replacement FIOS router was shipped to me on Wed.

More input.

I have the Home DVR setup..where all recordings happen on the main dvr box but playback to the others in the house. Would be really really helpful if you could schedule and delete recordings from any of the boxes where you can watch the stuff. Right now I have to sit at one specific tv and schedule/delete stuff.

I actually plan on swapping it out for multiple DVRs just because this is such a pita.

Hope this helps
