If all goes well, I will soon have a track-dedicated car. It might be street legal, so I could drive it if necessary, and may hold off on getting a trailer and tow vehicle.
Do you have a parking space or place I can rent to keep the car? If not, do you have any ideas for me? Thanks, TD

RL rents a place to keep his SC, so maybe he'll chime in. If you want to keep it at my house, I have to be allowed to drive at at DEs

The deal is not done yet, but yes, I am looking at a car that Dave brought up from Florida. I am getting the PPI done now, and I am to look at it on Saturday. Provided all is well, I will buy it then. Here are the details: 1984 944 Cup/ITS spec 944. • Engine: o 2.5 engine with Custom air intake. Factory late model header. Custom exhaust and racing muffler. Late model DME box/chip. • Suspension: o FRONT: Turbo shock mounts, strut tower brace, cut down 300 lb.springs, shocks. Heavy Porsche MO30 30MM front sway bar. High performance solid bushings. High strength steel a-arms (this was stock on 1984 944's and is much stronger and SAFER than the later model aluminum arms, especially on lowered cars. This car is lowered approx 2 inches.) o REAR: Porsche MO30 26 mm. sway bar, gas shocks. o Desirable 30 mm. torsion bar. Solid bushings. • Brakes: o New rotors, braided stainless steel brake lines, carbon metallic pads. Custom brake cooling ducts in front. • Interior: o Stripped and painted. Undercoating removed in passenger compartment to save weight. Quick release Grant racing steering wheel. Cobra race seat with Simpson 5 point harness and racing window net. Custom full roll cage. Floor mount fire extinguisher. Lights window lifts etc. operational. Clear title. Could be driven to the track. • Exterior: o Recently re-painted in original factory Porsche red. Body is very straight. Electrical emergency cut off switch on hood. • Wheels/tires: o Car has 15" phone dials with Hoosiers in good shape. Have extra tires and set of cookie cutters. • Recent work: o Replaced water pump, head gasket, factory timing belt, valve adjustment, and had general engine checkup done by Performance Tech November 2002. 2 track hours since then. Replaced rear half shafts. Car has good power, good compression, light weight, exceptional handling.

Nice one!
Dave is scrupulous with the cars he gets. This one sounds like a nice example, and well prepared. My student a the last SP DE was driving an Derecola car, and it was extremely nice. This is a great choice Todd. Nothing like a momentum car to teach you how to drive fast and smooth, not to mention the comfort of not risking your TT on the track any more. Welcome to the dark side! You'll need to look at the NASA Comp License School, and get ready to run 944Cup soon enough!

Maybe you should get a garage at one of those "self storage" places, since you'll need to store a trailer somewhere anyway, may as well keep the two together.
Hope the deal goes well, and that your new "momentum" driving style will be learned quickly... no "extra" power to hide mistakes now!

If a somewhat temporary parking spot is needed. you can park it on the street in front of my house for a few weeks. Safe, quiet neighborhood in Potomac.
And I won't require you to allow me to "keep 'er warmed up" either.

Thanks for the offer! I am looking for a more permanent solution that will not cause problems with the neighbors of my friends. Sorry to have missed you the other day, and glad the kids are better! TD
